I'm not a big social media person myself - the only sites I routinely make use of are Twitch, YouTube and Reddit, and even those are more for personal use than anything else. However, I think Instagram and Snapchat are pretty interesting sites to use, and could be of great use to a business that is primarily visual in nature - such as my mock up.
The types of platforms that integrate best are ones that provide a way to show visual mediums quickly, easily, and understandably. Primarily, this is things like Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, Twitch, and so on, but Facebook Business pages are a great place to store all of that and direct traffic out from there. I would like to use Google Analytics and well placed Facebook ads primarily, as those can provide both the information I need to see how the site is being used, as well as a tasteful way to appeal to consumers in a broad sense, and draw in potential backers to the project.
I think for the most part, a weekly or even bi-weekly push for social media marketing should be fine, with an increase around release times for products. Many companies in the programming/gaming field tend to lay off advertising for long periods of time until something new is imminent, then redouble their efforts to draw attention to it before slacking back off to work on the next big thing. A similar schedule would work well for me - advertising can be mostly passive until a release is on the horizon, then refocus on that effort.
In that vein, I think a routine schedule of weekly updates on projects (within reason, if no meaningful progress has been made, that can be shared too in a short post) on Facebook is the go to for the immediate future, with images and short videos uploaded to YouTube and Instagram to supplement these blog posts. Should a project come close to completion in that time, the push for advertising and exposure of it's details should become the forefront, with daily or every other day posts detailing updates and teasing more and more information until the release time.
